25 Reasons To Go Vegan in 2025

And why you should stay vegan forever.

According to spiritual and cultural sources, 2025 has been coined the “Year of Transformation.” There has never been a better time to adopt a compassionate lifestyle, and it has never been easier to make choices that benefit the planet and everyone who lives here.

Without further ado, here are the

Top 25 Reasons to Become a Vegan in 2025

  1. For the Animals

    • The number one reason to follow a vegan lifestyle is for the animals. As veganism is the philosophy that seeks to exclude all forms of animal exploitation, it only makes sense that your main reasoning behind changing your lifestyle should revolve around compassion for the most innocent victims on the planet.

  2. Exploiting Animals is Weird

    • Think about it. Why do we continue to force living beings into the world to drink their secretions, wear their skin, and eat their flesh? We have other options, unlike carnivorous species in the wild. Would you trade places with a non-human animal used for food, clothing, cosmetics, entertainment, or other uses? If the answer is no, you are habitually breaking the golden rule by not being vegan.

  3. Humans are Harmed within the Animal Agriculture Industry, too

    • Veganism is about the animals, but don’t forget that humans are animals, too. Within the animal agriculture industry, people of color, especially women of color, are constantly assaulted and harassed while working in slaughterhouses.

  4. Our Environment Can’t Handle Any More Devastation

    • Regardless of which study you read, the results are nearly identical. Plant-based diets are best for the environment compared to all other diet types. If you wonder why you should care (and take action) for the environment, remember: you live here

  5. Your Body will Thank You

    • A plant-based diet has been proven to help people lose unnecessary weight, improve heart health, and lower blood sugar and cholesterol. Obviously, a diet filled with fruits and vegetables is great for your body.

  6. Save Your Money

    • According to an Oxford Study, a plant-based diet is the most affordable diet and reduces food costs by up to one-third compared to other diets. With grocery prices (and the price of everything) increasing dramatically, saving money in the kitchen can really help you and your family.

  7. Resources

    • Every day, a vegan saves the life of one animal, 20 lbs of CO2 equivalent, 30 sqft of forests, 45 pounds of grain, and 1,100 gallons of water. Knowing this, why wouldn’t you go vegan?

  8. Try New Things

    • The new year is all about trying new things. With 2025 representing strong transformations, now is the perfect time to change your lifestyle to one that is more compassionate and sustainable.

  9. Follow Through on Commitments

    • If you struggle with self-confidence, making a big lifestyle change and sticking to it has been known to improve self-esteem and help you learn to trust yourself again. For example, pledging to be vegan every day and following through is sure to put a spring in your step.

  10. Break Bad Habits

    • Many people want to quit drinking and smoking, exercise more, and eat better in the new year. By proxy, going vegan will help them achieve these goals, as cigarettes and many alcohols are not vegan. Also, all plant-based whole foods are the key to eating clean!

  11. Connect Spiritually

    • Regardless of what religion you may or may not follow, animals play some role in your beliefs. All religions believe in the humane treatment of animals; no God, Goddess, or Deity would approve of the way we treat non-human animals for food, clothing, entertainment, and other arbitrary purposes - especially when we have alternatives. All religions approve of a vegan diet.

  12. Connect Socially

    • Vegan spaces, such as activism events, festivals, restaurants, and more, are great ways to meet like-minded people with interesting lives. Growing your vegan community will help you make friends, make lifelong connections, and maybe even meet your true love! What would be better than saving the animals together?

  13. Connect Internally

    • As children, we aren’t yet fed the lie that animal cruelty isn’t any of our concern. There’s a reason so many young boys and girls are adamant about not eating meat the moment they learn what it is. Maybe you were like this once but felt forced to disconnect with your empathy toward non-human animals. You deserve to reconnect to that side of you, and the animals deserve your kindness.

  14. Connect with Nature

    • If you’re an avid outdoors person, you know how much nature can do for you. My husband, a passionate hiker, says that veganism has helped him enjoy his hikes even more and gain new perspectives. He says that any issue he’s having at work can be tackled differently after applying it to nature and the non-human animal experience.

  15. Support Good Causes

    • Many people pledge to do more for their community and charities in the new year. The cheapest and most effective way to address the vast majority of the world’s problems is to adopt a vegan lifestyle. This nonviolent lifestyle advocates against slaughterhouses, domestic violence, racism, sexism, and more.

  16. Act of Kindness Everyday

    • Some people choose to only donate to charity or do their share of good deeds around the holidays, but kind acts can and should be made every single day. The easiest way to ensure you’re contributing to a better world each and every day is to follow and advocate for a vegan lifestyle.

  17. Consent

    • Consent doesn’t just apply to human beings in sexual situations. The idea of consent applies to every being on this planet. A non-human animal is unable to give consent to be abused, exploited, violated, and oppressed for your enjoyment. If you care about respecting other beings’ bodily autonomy, a vegan lifestyle is for you.

  18. World Hunger

    • It takes an average of six pounds of plant protein to produce one pound of animal protein. Those plants that are filtered through the body of a living being, only for the living being to be killed and eaten, could easily go to the millions of people who suffer from starvation. It makes no sense to use sentient mediators.

  19. Feminism

    • How can we fight to end sexism while funding an industry that benefits from exploiting the reproductive system of every cow, pig, chicken, and other animal used for human enjoyment? The entire concept of exploiting non-human females for their bodies and what comes out of them goes against the feminist movement.

  20. Speciesism

    • Just as every human must unlearn racism and sexism that has been societally embedded in us, we have the moral responsibility to apply respect and equality across all species. The idea that humans are above non-humans has the same abhorrent oppressive nature involved in all abysmal hierarchies.

  21. Sentience

    • Sentience is the ability to experience feelings and sensations and have some cognitive abilities. Non-human animals feel pain, undoubtedly. Why cause them avoidable, unnecessary, and truly unjustifiable pain?

  22. Beauty

  23. Longer Life

  24. Better Mental Health

    • Although you will be more aware of the cruelty in the world, you can sleep at night knowing you are no longer contributing to unnecessary and unjustified suffering. Many people find that having a passion and a purpose (and acting accordingly) in life can help with mental health problems like anxiety and depression.

  25. End Your Hypocrisy

    • Everyone says they love animals, that they care about the environment, and that they are sensitive to the unnecessary and unjustified suffering in the world. Yet these same people contribute to the largest amount of bloodshed worldwide every day. Don’t be one of them. Don’t be inconsistent with your words and actions. Do the right thing. Become a vegan and stay vegan for the rest of your life.

That wraps up my top 25 reasons to become a vegan, although there are, of course, hundreds of reasons to adopt the lifestyle. I’ve been vegan for nearly half of my life. I am healthy, happy, and at ease knowing that I have removed my contribution to the unnecessary and unjustified cruelty in this world.
